Ingredients | 1 lb ground beef 1 onion diced 1-2 cloves of garlic 1/2 cup or more squash puree (i.e. pumpkin) 1/2 cup bone broth/beef broth/boullion (optional) 1 tin tomato paste 1 Tbs dry mustard powder prepared in 2 Tbs water 1 Tbs brown sugar 1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp salt |
Directions | Brown beef and onions in oil, along with garlic. Add in squash, broth, and tomato. Prepare the mustard and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Mix in the rest of the spices, and then add to meat mix. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. Serves delicious on buttered toast or buns. |
Notes | Could use powdered garlic if fresh is not available. Could substitute ketchup for the tomato paste/brown sugar/Worcestershire/chili powder. Recipe calls for 1/2 cup squash but you can add more, up to two or three cups. Can use maple syrup in place of brown sugar. Experimentation is rewarded. |
