Ingredients | 2 cups of flour 3/4 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of shortening 1 egg 2 tablespoons of cold water 1 tablespoon of white vinegar |
Directions | This makes one double crust pie, or two pie shells. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in the shortening using a pastry cutter (or if necessary, two knives) until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Beat the egg, water, and vinegar together. Pour this mixture over the flour. Stir with a fork until the mix is moistened. Divide the dough in half and shape into two balls. At this point, you can save half for later in the freezer, or make two pies, or make a pie with a top and bottom. |
